A Jolt alternative for checklists beside your numbers

Jolt is a restaurant checklist and operations app; jolt.com now sends visitors to SmartSense, which says Jolt is part of SmartSense ONE and existing users keep their tools. Mezbano’s checklists are simpler and sit in the same app as recipe costs, daily sales and the month close. Here is how they compare.

What Jolt does better

We would rather be fair than argue against a straw man.

  • Sensors: wireless food probes and sensors capture temperatures without anyone writing them down.
  • Breadth: modules for food labels with allergens and dates, employee schedules with a time clock, and messaging by email and text.
  • Evidence and follow-up: corrective actions that ask for evidence such as photos, and alerts when tasks are missed or readings are out of range.
  • Training inside the work: videos and procedures opened from within a list.

Side by side

Each Jolt entry is what its own page said when we read it on Oct 18, 2026, linked so you can check it.

What you need Jolt Mezbano
Checklists

Checklists, procedures and daily tasks as digital workflows.

SmartSense: Jolt is now a SmartSense solution, read Oct 18, 2026

Opening, service and closing checklists answered one task at a time; a task can ask for a photo or a note.
Problems found

Corrective actions that ask for evidence, and alerts for missed tasks or out-of-range readings.

SmartSense Operate, read Oct 18, 2026

A reading out of range needs a corrective action, saying what was done and what happened to the food, before the round can be completed. No alerts are sent.
Temperatures

Digital temperature logging with wireless food probes.

SmartSense Guard, read Oct 18, 2026

Readings are entered by hand on a round. No sensors or probes.
Records for an inspector

HACCP summary and exception reports.

SmartSense Guard, read Oct 18, 2026

Floor records lists every reading and checklist task between two dates, with who answered, photos and what was done about problems, to print or download as CSV.
Food labels

A label module, with templates that update at every location at once.

SmartSense Label, read Oct 18, 2026

No food labels.
Employee schedules and time clock

Schedules with labour cost forecasts, and a time clock with photo checks.

SmartSense Schedule, read Oct 18, 2026

No employee schedules or time clock. Shift schedules say which checks each shift runs; hours and payroll are recorded as costs.
Several locations

Every location’s performance in one place.

SmartSense Operate, read Oct 18, 2026

The brand writes each checklist once for every store, and sees each store’s last seven days side by side.
On a phone

Apps for iOS and Android.

SmartSense help: mobile apps, read Oct 18, 2026

Runs in a phone’s browser and can be added to the home screen. There is no app-store app.

What Mezbano does that Jolt does not list

We could not find these on Jolt’s own pages. If one matters to you, ask them too.

  • Recipe costing, daily sales by channel, expenses, labour and a monthly profit and loss in the same app as the checklists.
  • A day page that gathers sales, hours, floor work, incidents and handovers, signed off by a manager and signed off again if the day changes.
  • Kitchen prep from your published prep recipes, with amounts that change with the number of batches.
  • A month close that warns about days not signed off before it locks the month.

Trade-offs to compare

What Jolt publishes about itself, and how Mezbano handles the same thing.

  • Jolt, as part of SmartSense ONE, is sold as separate modules for checklists, sensors, labels and schedules. That fits a kitchen that wants hardware and staffing tools from one vendor.

With Mezbano: Mezbano’s Floor module covers checklists, temperature checks, incidents, kitchen prep and day sign-off, and works alone or beside Costing and Finance.

  • Sensors remove the hand-written reading. Check what hardware a rollout needs at each of your locations.

With Mezbano: Mezbano needs only a phone or computer with a browser; readings are typed in, and saved readings, answers and corrective actions are kept as entered.

Who should choose which

Choose Jolt if

You want temperatures recorded by sensors, food labels printed, staff scheduled and clocked in, and training videos attached to tasks, all from one vendor, and costing is handled somewhere else.

Choose Mezbano if

You want opening and closing checklists, temperature checks and a daily sign-off without extra hardware, in the same place as your recipe costs, daily sales and month close, so the day’s floor work and its numbers are signed off together.

What Mezbano does not do

  • No wireless temperature sensors: readings are entered by hand.
  • No food labels, employee schedules or time clock.
  • No app-store app: Mezbano runs in the browser and can be added to a phone’s home screen.
  • No writing your own temperature checks: they come from the starter food-safety set or are entered by the Mezbano team.

How Mezbano is different

Floor work and the numbers, together

The day page shows sales and hours beside checklists, temperature checks, incidents and handovers, so the manager who signs off the day sees all of it at once.

Records kept as entered

Readings, answers and corrective actions are kept as they were saved. A corrected answer is added and the earlier one stays, marked.

A record of every change

Changes to your records are logged with who made them, what they did, when, and what they changed. A closed month is locked in the database. On pages where a save replaces a whole record, such as recipes, a save based on an old copy is refused instead of quietly replacing someone else’s work.

Where this comes from

What we say about Jolt comes from its own official pages, read on Oct 18, 2026. Products, who can buy them and prices can change; check the current offer before you decide.
